QR Framework

The FrameWork:
- Frame
- Specify
- Collect
- Analyse
- Communicate

Frame:
The projection is predicated on the choice of a set of future scenarios. We can narrow the scope of a question based on these projections, the more realistic, the closer to reality.

For example:
A question
"What will singapore's population be in 2030?"
We can further narrow the question's scope based on specification given in the question
"Under the assumption of more foreigners coming into singapore, what is the population projected for singapore for the year 2030?"
 Issues:
We have to question ourselves, is the assumption reasonable and realistic?
If so, accepting this assumption how should the findings be interpreted?

Specify:
Factors affecting our point
e.g
Parameters of the projected population
Birth rates, death rates, migration rates.
Subgroups:
age, sex

Collect:
How do we collect the data, where and whom do we rely on.
e.g
Rely on Singapore government data that is publicly available at SPD website without much questioning

Analyse:
Using a method to track and analyse the specific data
Determine the dependency of each of the variables
e.g
As fertility and mortality rates are highly age and sex dependent, we need to subdivide the population into different age and sex groups.
Adopt a cohort component method which tracks changes in the population due to birth and death migration

Communicate:
Clarify the limitation of the findings but put forward relevant insights
